A healthier approach to work


Are your employees joyful? Are your employees thriving? Are your employees smiling?

When is the last time you actually paused and looked, really looked, at your employees?

Are your employees healthy? And no we’re not talking about how much money you’re paying each year in healthcare benefits. When you walk into an organization where people are happy and thriving you can feel it. You see it in their faces. You see it in their eyes. Now think about the last time you walked into an organization and the environment just felt sad, flat, and not enthusiastic. Which place would you rather work? Which place would you rather create? If you haven’t been watching, we challenge you to spend the next few days getting very curious about your organization, your culture, and your people. What do you see and hear?

Here are 3 things you can do today to change your culture:

  1. Smile more. If you are a leader at any level your team is watching you and you set the tone.

  2. Listen more. Stop, pause and really listen to what others are saying. We all want to be heard and valued. Your time and attention is priceless.

  3. Choose appreciative language. Words create worlds. How much negative language are you using? Incorporate a more appreciative approach to your daily conversations.

Start to experiment with your own behavior and take note of the changes you see and feel around you. Accept the challenge. Your team will thank you for it!
